Flying Symphony

Weekly Note #1 | 17th May, 2026

Work

  • News of the week was that my company is planning to drop hybrid working and enforce 5 days a week from 1st Jan 2027. They have a lot of employees while the office is small which means they will most likely move office and I will have to move. I had just moved here and started to settle in and now this news is kinda disappointing. I live alone and don't have a lot of stuff so it is okay. For some of my teammates this news is crushing, I feel bad for them.

  • My manager "offered" me to join the on-call rota. I deflected the "offer" by saying that I will keep an eye on alerts and do a self-assessment. I intend to just "forget" about it.

Not Work

  • Went to IndieWebClub's 26th meetup. Last time I attended in February. It was a lot of fun, I discovered that it is possible to bypass your Airtel/Jio router entirely using an SFP module which sounded crazy. I also got inspired and I am planning to move to my own blogging space. So stay tuned for that. Huge bummer is that I won't be able to attend the Special Anniversary Edition cause I would be out of town.

  • Took Claude pro subscription for a minor side project. The project got over quickly and Claude excelled at it. So I decided to put Claude to automate the updates for the AUR packages I maintain. Some of them were challenging but with some inputs from my end, it churned that out as well. Then I decided to fix the magic mouse bug I was facing on Linux and guess what it managed to fix that as well! I don't understand what it did but it works. I plan to understand it next week and might upstream it.

  • Funny thing happened. I slept and the curtain was drawn aside, morning time sun shone on me and I was dreaming like yeah i am out in the sun and enjoying the winter sun. But slowly it got too much and dream suddenly showing me geysers and toasters wall mounted with sun shining on them. I had to wake up just because of the bizarre nature of the dream. :D
